Spanish Armada

The Spanish Armada also known as the invincible fleet was a large fleet sent against England by Philip II of Spain in 1958 with the intention of overthrowing Elizabeth I and putting an end to her involvement in Spanish Netherlands. It was defeated by the English navy and it was decided that the fleet should return. However severe storms disrupted the Armada and of the fleet’s initial 130 ships, about fifty never returned to Spain.
